Electric cars: are they changing real estate?

Electric cars. Does it change real estate? Is it similar to the railroad as they traveled across the country? We are assembling this new charging system. is correct. I GM just announced that they are deploying a network of chargers across the country.

We’re going to talk about how much and how it can make a difference. Does it change like, you know, we had a virus and it changed everything where people wanted to live. But if suddenly there are charging stations for different things in different places, similar to how they are on the railway. Does it make a difference? So let’s take a look at this article that was recently published while we’re at it.

It’s like a big infrastructure thing, not this one by itself, but the whole thing as a whole. So let’s talk about it. General Motors plans to build a network of fast chargers for electric vehicles at pilot travel centers along US highways. There will be about 2,000 of them in total, and they will be opening, piloting and flying locations, and they will be in 500 locations across the country.

Good. So is this news? Is this big news? Let’s talk about it. So that means 500 pilots and flying. Js So think about the pilot and the flight. Js And where do you usually see them. So you got that in your head, and then you thought about 500, and then you realized that there are 50 states in the union. So that’s ten charging stations per state. Then think about it and then name the best cities in your state.

Now you understand how much it is. And then think, you just said how many cities, and I said there were ten per state, and then you add that up, and then you divide the numbers. And how many charging stations are there per city? And then you realize you said four cities at most, and then you realize that’s not a lot. Then think about how many gas stations you drive by each day.

Think about that number and then think about how many pumps each one has. So now you have that number in your head. Then take those two numbers and multiply them and figure out how many pumps that is. So every day you will see a gas station on one side of the street and one on the other. And then they will, what? Every couple of kilometers there will be gas stations everywhere.

And all of them will have eight pumps? Ten pumps, 1216 pumps. It’s just crazy. And then think about how long it takes to charge an electric car compared to how long it takes to charge a gas tank, and then realize that you probably need three times as many chargers as you need gas pumps to do the same the most. because they charge slower than gas pumps and then realize that, yeah, that’s weird. Good. Well, anyway, so that brings us back. So is this big news?

Maybe not. Is this the beginning? Yeah, that would be great, right? This is a good start. But what I was looking at, does it change real estate? So if we talk about that for a moment and you’re thinking, I don’t know why I like big infrastructure projects. We think about history and we think about when our highway system was built, we put a ton of money into it, and we think, “Let’s build this national highway system to connect everybody together.”

And that was pretty impressive, right? And I like these big infrastructure projects. Then we had things like, let’s build a railroad across the country. Let’s build a huge oil pipeline. Let’s you know, we used to have a canal system that we had before New York, because it was important. So all of these interconnected things, and now we’re building this whole new infrastructure project.

Now it’s like one small piece, but we’re going to need a lot more. And how does it change? I like to remember how the railroads really changed what happened in the country. And they were creating cities and it was extremely important if your city had a railroad, or imagine if you got a rest stop on the highway, like an exit at your place instead of on the road. is correct.

Or you, like Bucky, come to yourself, to yourself, and not anywhere else. Has anyone traveled to Destin this summer and stayed in Buckeye after Mobile AL? My suggestion is not to do this. It’s like the craziest place you’ve ever been. It’s kind of like a super note, but it changes traffic patterns. And when something like that opens up, you have all these other ancillary things that will start opening up around it.

So I would say if you go back to the same bupkis, that’s the only thing in Mobile. Once you go over the bridge, you’ll see five years from now that there will be a ton of businesses around it, everything coming in. And I think you’re going to see things like that start to change with these EV charging stations.

It will dramatically change real estate, where people go, how far between places. So imagine the drive from Dallas to Austin is so far and you need one charging station in the middle to charge the whole time. So does this create a whole new city on the way, or is there a city that will benefit from it now? Because when you drive on certain roads, the traffic patterns will change.

All of a sudden, if you drive that far and then stop and refuel between two regular places that drive all the time, does that make the place any different? And that’s something to think about. Think about traveling from Houston to this place in Austin, from here to there, and how does that make a difference? Maybe we’re creating brand new cities based on something like this, if that’s actually the case, I don’t know, just reporting, you guys decide, but it’s real estate and something to think about.
