BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) – The family of a student who died of alcohol poisoning, promising fraternity, sued Bowling Green State University on Thursday, claiming the Ohio school knew but did not stop the hazing in Greek life. , and should be detained. responsible.

The university described the death of 20-year-old Stone Foltz as a tragedy, but called the family’s lawsuit unfounded. In a written statement, BSSU spokesman Alex Solis suggested that the lawsuit in the Ohio State Court of Justice undermines the school’s efforts to eliminate hazing.

The family’s complaint of wrongful death requires damages and cites a desire for more proactive measures to stop hazing on college campuses.

Foltz’s death has already led to criminal convictions of several fraternity members and increased punishment for hazing in Ohio. The university also made changes, including hiring a hazing prevention coordinator and shutting down the fraternity that Foltz had joined.

His parents upheld part of the lawsuit for illegal death against the fraternity and several of its members worth at least $ 4 million.
