Mark Zides
Q: What specific elements and approaches did you include in the book to appeal to early career professionals?
Zidi: First off, I don’t believe in sugar coating anything, so I definitely take a tough love approach, The #PACE process for early career success. What I saw was that Millennials and Gen Z were coddled and it did them a disservice. I am part of a parenting group that has contributed to how the younger generation behaves, and I believe that the message in my book helps to raise awareness and self-exploration by paying attention to the characteristics and traits that need to be developed moving forward.
I deeply emphasize the importance of grit, charisma, persistence, and emotional agility. If you focus on developing these skills, they will lead to success not only in your career, but in life. I believe in immersing yourself, staying focused and getting the job done, all while learning and growing on the job.
Most approaches involve increased communication, positive and productive thinking, and continuing what you’ve started. The #PACE process works not only for Millennials and Gen-Zers, but for anyone looking to change their professional career. The approach is to take risks and step outside your comfort zone to achieve great things.
