Recruits get real-world experience while getting paid and learning
Newbury, Berkshire – August 17, 2022 – University Center Newbury (UCN) is pleased to confirm a long-term partnership with Micro Focus, one of the world’s largest enterprise software vendors, delivering mission-critical software that keeps the digital world running. The Newbury-headquartered company has launched a paid training program which will see it hire 10 new general business staff and fund their training over four years at the Newbury University Centre. Recruits will receive a certified manager.
Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training and experience with training towards a nationally recognized qualification. In these new roles, recruits will work with the Micro Focus team to develop skills and business understanding. They will also undertake training at the University’s Newbury Center to gain a deeper understanding of business practice and work towards a Chartered Manager qualification which will support their careers.
Jo Houghton, director of business and partnerships at Newbury University Centre, said: “We are delighted to support Micro Focus in developing their staff to management level with the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship programme.”

Inductees will have the opportunity to build their careers by making a positive difference in their communities by participating in Micro Focus’ Make a Difference volunteer program, where they can take up to four days a year to volunteer for causes and charities of their choice.
