New flexible VHS Learning courses expand students’ ability to enroll in an online course

New flexible VHS Learning courses expand students' ability to enroll in an online course

Boston – May 12, 2022 – Students and faculty often cite flexibility in planning as a major benefit of working with asynchronous online VHS Learning courses. Starting in August, students will be able to take advantage of an even more flexible course format.

The new flexible course model will be available for 16 courses starting in the 2022-2023 academic year:

  • Algebra 1 Flexible
  • AP® Calculus AB Flexible
  • AP® Calculation BC Flexible
  • Principles of Informatics AP® Flexible
  • AP® Environmental Science Flexible
  • AP® Macroeconomics Flexible
  • AP® Microeconomics Flexible
  • AP® Music Theory Flexible
  • AP® Physics 1 Flexible
  • AP® Spanish Language and Culture Flexible
  • Flexible AP® statistics
  • AP® United States Government Flexible
  • AP® United States History Flexible
  • English 9 Flexible
  • English 11 Flexible
  • Spanish 1 Flexible

Each flexible course takes place independently, and under the guidance of a tutor. Courses start on the first day of each month from August to February (August to December for AP® courses). Courses end after the end of the academic year, so later entrants will view course material at a faster pace.

“We have specifically designed these courses for students who want to have more flexibility in their curriculum,” said Carol Defuria, President and CEO of VHS Learning. “Some students would like to enroll in a course after the start of the traditional fall semester. Now, whether they are working on academic goals, career goals, or just want to explore new interests, our flexible courses give them more choice when they start learning. ”

“As with all our courses, students enrolled in flexible courses will receive significant support from faculty. VHS Learning teachers interact with students in asynchronous discussions, take weekly work hours and invite students to monthly personal progress meetings, ”DeFuria continued. “This new course model is part of our mission to empower schools with industry-leading online learning programs led by faculty and to provide students with a wide range of courses that prepare them for college, career and beyond.”
