An overview of the NMP program at MDI-Gurgaon was written by a former student and now an IT consultant with a leading MNC. In their review, the graduates shared an idea of the locations and how the NMP (National Management Program) in the prestigious MDI-Gurgaon could be improved.

Founded in 1973 by India’s Industrial Finance Corporation, MDI Gurgaon has become one of India’s best and most sought after business schools. B-school accredited by the MBA Association (AMBA), which he received in 2005, becoming the first business school in India to receive such accreditation.
In addition to being accredited by AMBA, MDI-Gurgaon is also accredited by the South Asian Quality Assurance System (SAQS), AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and AIU (Association of Indian Universities). MDI is consistently ranked in the top 10 business schools in India.
National Management Program (NMP) in MDI-Gurgaon
National Management Program (NMP) in MDI-Gurgaon – is a 15-month graduate program that accepts applications from working managers, professionals, entrepreneurs for at least five years of experience. The NMP program at MDI is recognized by AICTE as a postgraduate program and has been accredited by AMBA, the MBA Association (UK).

NMP vs. PGPM program in MDI-Gurgaon
The flagship program at MDI Gurgaon is the Graduate School of Management (PGPM). The average limit for PGPM can reach 98 per CAT, and the average package ranges from 15-17 varnishes per year. The management of the college is very willing and focused on promoting its flagship program, and almost all resources are used to ensure that B-School remains at the top of the table.
On the contrary, National Management Program (NMP) is not a flagship program, and the MDI leadership seems disinterested and dispassionate in implementing the NMP program with the same diligence and enthusiasm. Although the faculty for both programs are the same, students constantly complain about 2 main issues:
1) Student quality
Unlike some of India’s leading business schools, MDI-Gurgaon does not use GMAT or CAT to select candidates. Although GMAT and CAT scores are accepted, most students are enrolled based on a personal examination conducted by MDI for the NMP program. This process has significantly reduced the quality of students enrolling in MDI under the NMP program, reducing the learning experience in higher business school.
2) Serious placement problems
Students often complain that the placement manager at MDI-Gurgaon is least interested in taking the place of NMP students, as his main focus remains the placement of PGPM students. Although a placement commission has been formed, it is expected that all NMP students will use their contacts to obtain organizations for final placement. Vinit Kumar (name changed to hide identity) says that if last year the placement was average, this year they were just awful.
Prof. Kanval Kapil, Chairman – Location in a conversation with students says that most organizations that come to MDI for placements are looking for fresh MBA for your organizations. We have NMP students who even have 8-12 years of experience, and placing these students on campus is extremely difficult. It all depends on supply and demand, and the college can do little, explains Professor Kapil.
