Phase I exams were held on July 15, 16, 19 and 20, while Phase II exams are scheduled for August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 20. The Phase I exam had a lot of technical problems on the first day, and a lot students alleged that the NTA had changed their examination centres in the last few hours, making it difficult for candidates to travel to the new location and causing some students to miss the exam. However, the UGC has announced that these students will not be offered a retest. “In some cases, several students reached the centers after 9.30 pm, after the first session started in the morning. It is a common practice and it has already been conveyed to the students that if they come 30 minutes after the exam starts, they will not be allowed to enter the centre,” said UGC chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar.
