In a significant development for Bihar’s teacher recruitment process, the Patna High Court has ruled that there will be no age relaxation for candidates in the third phase of the recruitment drive conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). This decision, announced on July 19, comes after a petition requested a 10-year age extension, similar to the relaxation offered during the first phase of the recruitment.
The BPSC began the third phase of the examination on July 19, which will run until July 22. The commission has confirmed that, contrary to the earlier relaxation in the first phase, no age concessions will be granted for this phase. This decision follows the Patna High Court’s rejection of the petition for age relaxation. The court’s ruling is in line with the Bihar State School (Recruitment, Transfer, Disciplinary Action, and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023, which govern the recruitment process.
Approximately 87,774 positions are available in this recruitment phase, covering roles such as Primary Teacher (PRT), Upper Primary Teacher (Upper PRT), and Secondary Teacher, among others. Candidates attending the examination must present their admit cards to gain entry to the exam centers.
In another related development, the Patna High Court has ordered the BPSC to release the supplementary results for the first phase of the recruitment drive. The initial results, which were announced in October 2023, left 2024 out of 4797 positions vacant, as the supplementary results had not been issued. The BPSC had previously declined to release these results, but the court’s directive now mandates their publication to address the vacant positions.
This order aims to rectify the recruitment shortfall from the first phase and ensure a fair and transparent process for all candidates involved.
