On the occasion of World Water Day, Rishihood University, a social impact university based in Sonepat, has announced the launch of its first Jal Fellowship program on the ground to put water change leaders in counties in all 750 districts of India.
World Water Day, celebrated on March 22 every year since 1993, is dedicated to the importance of fresh water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. The Jal Fellowship is in line with the UN’s vision of action to address the global water crisis.
According to the World Bank, India is home to 18 percent of the world’s population but only 4 percent of water resources, making it one of the countries with the biggest water problem.
The Jal Fellowship is a unique opportunity for experiential field learning, designed to incubate change leaders who can actively contribute to sustainable water issues in their local community with confidence and commitment. Continuing its commitment to the ecosystem of learning in entrepreneurship, health, creativity, education and community leadership, Rishihuda University is launching a Jal Fellowship to develop water leaders who can work in their community as water entrepreneurs or members of local NGOs or local authorities. agency.
“If society wants to create a real impact on water and the environment as a whole, efforts must be joint. It is a public initiative that requires the equal participation of stakeholders at all levels, be it civil society, government and non-profit organizations, ”said Raja Sabha member and Rishih University Founding Chancellor Surash Prabhu.
The curriculum is designed for 40 weeks, including 8 weeks of classroom instruction and 32 weeks of fieldwork in their own area. Fellows will learn from domain experts and solution providers.
Rishihuda University offers full sponsorship to all selected candidates in the first group, starting in May 2022. Applicants will be required to bear the travel costs associated with fieldwork in their constituency, and attend 3 personal training sessions and 1 final session, all of which will be held in Delhi NCR.
Applicants between the ages of 21 and 40 who have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and are interested in water, the environment or the community can apply until April 23.
The scholarship begins May 3.
