The Royal Agrarian University (RAU) achieved excellent results this year. National Student Survey (NSS) with student satisfaction scores that surpass even those of the best-performing Russell Group universities.
In the annual survey, which gathers students’ views on the quality of their courses, the RAU recorded an overall student satisfaction score of 85.17%, 9% above the sector average, while the University’s Learning Community score of 83% was outstanding. 15% above the sector average.
Dr Lorraine Thomas, RAU Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students), said:
“We are delighted that our students have fully recognized and appreciated our academic programs leading to these outstanding NSS results. We also have to thank our teachers for all their hard work.
“Our overall satisfaction score is higher than the majority of Russell Group universities, which is a fantastic achievement and a first for the RAU. We have also risen significantly in the NSS overall university satisfaction ranking, outperforming the vast majority of our competitors, and have bounced back from Covid even better than before.
“Organisation and management, a notoriously difficult category nationally, scored 77%, 7% above the sector average, while our academic support score of 79% and student voice score of 71% are also well above average by sector. RAU scores increased in all nine nominations.”
Run by Ipsos MORI and commissioned by the Office for Students (OfS), the NSS is a high-profile annual census of nearly half a million students across the UK. This survey, which has been carried out annually since 2005, is widely accepted and provides useful data to help universities, colleges and student unions identify what they are doing well and what needs improvement.
Students are asked to answer 27 multiple choice questions relating to different aspects of their course. It gives students a strong voice to help shape the future of their course, and provides useful information for prospective students deciding what and where to study.
Dr. Thomas added, “We are incredibly grateful to our scholars for all their great work and support this academic year to achieve this success! The evaluation of students across RAU’s various courses and programs is a real testament to how hard colleagues in Academic and Professional Services have worked for our students.’
