Sikkim delayed the opening of schools and colleges

The Sikkim government decided to rebuild its schools and colleges in August. The decision was made at a high-level meeting of the State Task Force chaired by Prime Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Friday. Previously, schools and colleges were to open on July 1st.

“Serious precautions need to be taken to resume educational activities in Sikkim due to the outbreak of COVID-19 cases,” officials said.

The reopening of schools and colleges will take place in accordance with the directives of the UGC and the central government.

Officials said the Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that exams in grades 10 and 12 will be held from July 1 to 15. Exams were postponed due to a nationwide blockade imposed on March 25th. These exams will be held at all Sikkim high schools to maintain norms of social distancing and avoid trips to the community center. ”

Many Sikkim students who appear for the CBSE exams have found themselves in other states and have been instructed to apply for a change of exam center in the county where they are now located.
