Students sued Seattle U for degrees it could not award

Four former and current students are suing Seattle University over a degree the state says cannot be awarded, KING 5 News reported.

Students expected to earn a master’s degree in nursing. One student said she even got her degree and applied for a job in California, where she found out Washington state didn’t approve the degree.

The degree and associated costs cost students about $70,000 each.

In a statement, Seattle University said: “We regret that information was shared … about the proposed master’s degree option. When the state commission reported that this was a violation, we quickly corrected our posts and notified the affected students. The commission later deemed the matter resolved without the need for any further action.”
