The Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF) doesn’t seem to care about children. This is a harsh statement, but it is undeniable.
According to the executive director of the IFF, Idaho public schools are “grotesque”, and “public schools are the most brutal forms of socialism” in our society. In fact, IFF is calling for the complete dismantling of our cherished public education system enshrined in the Idaho Constitution.
Who are these people?
It is one thing to want your children to attend private or parish schools, but to deny this opportunity to hundreds of thousands of children across the state whose parents work outside the home or simply cannot afford expensive private schools is obviously unwise.
The IFF’s response to the desired collapse of public schools is to send children home and teach them online. COVID has very clearly taught us that online learning faces significant and often insurmountable difficulties for parents and children. Online school is often too challenging for young children, and what could go wrong with a 15-year-old unattended with a laptop?
The IFF shamefully wants our children to be divided into two categories; those who have learning opportunities (wealthy and urban) and those who do not (poor and rural).
They do not care for children who came through no fault of their own because of poverty, speak another language, or live in rural areas without access to the benefits of privileged IFF classes. The IFF has worked hard to block funding for preschool education services. Let’s not forget that the vast majority of Idaho residents want these services for their children.
The IFF will take away all financial and medical care from children with special needs or disabilities. They would deny these children the opportunity to learn important skills and become productive, educated members of society.
The IFF also attacks young adults who want to go to college. Year after year, the IFF requires its subordinate legislators to significantly reduce financial support for our local universities, even if these institutions consistently provide excellent higher education services to thousands of students.
The IFF is apparently against K-12 and all higher education.
But that’s not all. They also despise our teachers, support staff and administrators. They disrespect our governor, despise the State Board of Education and endlessly ridicule the State Department of Education.
For years, the IFF has urged its humble lawmakers to deny teachers and support staff access to salaries as well as desperately needed medical care. Librarians wanted to be imprisoned at this legislative session.
The IFF states that they want less government involvement and more parental involvement, but then strongly demand massive punitive government intervention in the privacy of parents and their children, including themselves in the most sensitive private health decisions best made by health professionals and families. .
They say they are opponents of socialism, but then want to take away your hard-earned tax dollars and recklessly redistribute your money with zero responsibility to unaccredited parish schools or private systems.
The IFF has no work plan for Idaho or Idaho, they can only sell their false accusations and slander. They have no solutions. They exist to destroy, never to build.
The IFF fights against children, college students, K-16 faculty, K-16 support staff, librarians, and virtually anyone who slavishly disobeys their radical ideology. Their contempt for someone outside their circle is alarming.
Their actions should be a wake-up call for us to push aside these “conflicting entrepreneurs” and lawmakers who support them forever, ignoring them and putting their efforts on the ashes of history.
