Colin O’Brady 10-time world record holder. Author of the New York Times bestseller The Impossible First. Colin’s highly publicized expeditions have been followed by millions, and his work has been featured in the New York Times, The Tonight Show, the BBC, The Joe Rogan Experience and NBC’s Today. His feats include the world’s first unsupported and fully human-assisted solo crossing of Antarctica; speed records for Explorers Grand Slam and Seven Summits; and the world’s first human-powered ocean paddle across the Drake Passage. His new book is called The 12-Hour Walk.

Notes:

  • What kind of Everest do you have? The question he asked all the rich bankers that night and no one found an answer? What is your answer? What are you doing to make this a reality?
  • Limiting Beliefs – “We are the stories we tell ourselves.” What story do you tell yourself about… yourself?
  • Life is rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Most people live around a 5 or 6 most days. They have no ones and no tens. What can you do to change that? How can you live a life that has a few 1’s and 10’s?
  • Mantra: “Colin! You are strong. You are capable.”
  • The most important muscle is the brain.
  • The possible thinking:
    • See optimism in all possibilities.
    • Colin’s mom told him he could achieve anything he set his mind to.
  • Colin has an accident and catches fire while jumping on a flaming tightrope…
    • His doctor told him he would probably never walk again.
    • At that moment, Colin set himself the goal of completing a triathlon.
      • A year later he WON the triathlon in Chicago.
  • With Colin as your guide, A 12-hour walk asks you to invest one day in yourself. The goal? Defeat your mind and become your best self. By going it alone, unplugging, listening to your inner voice, and rewriting the limiting beliefs embedded in your psyche, you can free yourself from the patterns that hold you back and learn to cultivate the “Possible Mindset,” an expanded way of thinking that unlocks a life of limitless possibilities. Reward: To be the hero of your destiny.
  • The question to ask yourself is: What is your Everest?
    • What does the performance look like?
    • You have to take care of yourself first…
  • Perfection:
    • Deep connection with your why. Passion.
    • Sincere curiosity
    • Love
    • If no one was watching, would you still be doing it?
