UK: University of Sheffield courses ranked among the best in the country

Students from across the UK have rated the University of Sheffield’s courses as some of the best in the country, with overall satisfaction at 78 per cent, according to the latest National Student Survey (NSS).

The percentage, according to the survey, is two percent higher than the average for the sector, according to Erudera.com.

“We are delighted to have achieved a student satisfaction rate of 78% in the 2022 National Student Satisfaction Survey (NSS), which is 2% above the sector average,” Sheffield tweeted.

A press release from the university said this year’s survey named its materials science course the best in the UK for satisfaction, with 13 subjects in the top five and a further three in the top ten.

The University of Sheffield’s Vice-President for Education, Mary Vincent, said she was delighted that students recognized the university’s work as the best in the country.

She thanked the team for their efforts to achieve such results and added that their hard work is an inspiration for the next generations.

“Hearing the views of our students is vital to helping us continue to develop our student experience, and the National Student Survey gives us a really useful insight into what our students want and need.” Vincent added.

The survey shows that subjects ranked in the top five or ten in the country:

  • material science (1)
  • aeronautical and aerospace engineering (2)
  • archeology (2)
  • landscape design (2)
  • mechanical engineering (3)
  • materials technology (3)

A month ago, the University of Sheffield was ranked among the top 100 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2023. Another good news for the university this year was that the university’s student union won the Whatuni Student Choice Award 2022 for the best student union. The University of Sheffield has won the award for the fifth consecutive year.

The latest National Student Survey (NSS) collects student responses about learning and teaching at the University, academic support, assessment and feedback, study resources and the Students’ Union.
