My week was pretty quiet. I was very lucky even though I didn’t win the Mega Millions. Record-breaking rain fell on St. Louis on Tuesday. Although we have only lived in our current home for 2 years, we have lived in our unit since December 2000 and have never seen anything like a storm. We are lucky, our house is fine, but many of my neighbors are not so lucky. There is a creek near one of the lots in my neighborhood and the water rose so fast it caused the drain to close. One street was badly damaged and people lost a lot. The street is now full of furniture, appliances and bins to collect items that are now rubbish. The water was so high that many neighbors lost cars parked in their driveways.
I’ve been trying to take it easy this past week as I’m hosting my daughter’s bridal shower next Sunday and there’s a lot to do. Today we are picking out a bridesmaid dress for my youngest daughter and maybe see if we can get something to wear. I hate spending money on a dress I know I’ll only wear once, but there it is.
How was your week?
What I am reading
It’s been a really good week of reading! I finished reading I told you it would happen Elaine Murphy and had a great time with him. I continue to check out Rebecca Zanetti’s books at the rate of one a month and was able to get A stormy meeting until the end of July. Project Namohan John Teschner was a little harder to get into, but there were things I really liked about him. I really liked it Bodyguard by Kathryn Senter, and I have a feeling it will be one of my top reads of 2022.
I was a little worried Valkyrie’s daughter Tiana Warner after a cover change, title change and a delay in publishing, but so far it’s really fantastic and I can’t wait to read more about it.
