Seven young people from across the North West have started apprenticeships with a leading training provider through the government’s jobs stimulus programme.
PHX Training supported seven Kickstart staff at its centers in Barrow, Carlisle, Preston, Blackpool and Morecambe.
Each employee now completes a six-month internship as either an administrator or a trainee trainer, helping people in the region complete training courses designed to help them find work or upskill existing staff at businesses.
In total, PHX Training has taken on 20 Kickstart placements so far, while the government recently announced that more than 150,000 people across the country have been taken on by the employment scheme.
Kickstart placements help young people on Universal Credit complete a fully funded six-month work placement with an employer, after which many gain full-time paid employment. The PHX Training placement also led to four permanent jobs at the company after six months.
Bryony Fawcett, managing director of PHX Training, said: “As an organization dedicated to training and helping people find work, I am very proud of how we have supported dozens of young people to find work that can give them work experience and help them find permanent work. work.
“Our new Kickstart staff are already getting stuck in helping us improve lives in the North West by helping people get training and qualifications, find work and upskilling the workforce in Lancashire and Cumbria.”
The Kickstart scheme, which is now closed to new applications, has provided funding for employers to create new six-month jobs for young people on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment. PHX Training, which has centers in Lancashire and Cumbria, has been officially accredited by the government as a gateway provider for the Kickstart scheme and has worked with businesses across the North West to help process a total of 72 Kickstart placements since September 2020.
PHX Training has training centers in Barrow, Carlisle, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool to help people complete training courses to help them get back into work.
